Yellow Labrador Retriever / Golden Retriever / Mixed (medium coat) : : Female (spayed) : : Young : : Medium
Cherokee was rescued at a truck stop off I-40. She avoided being caught for several months. There was a mother dog and several pups that were seen during the summer and people started to feed them. But no one could touch any of them. With the efforts of concerned individuals, four different rescue groups became involved. Cherokee, the most shy of the pups and last to be caught, was trapped in mid-October. She was covered with mange, had other parasites and was malnurished.
After weeks of TLC, our beautiful Cherokee is ready to meet the world. Calm and sweet, loves everyone. Still shy and skiddish with sudden noises, she needs a quiet home with a routine where she can adjust. Her breed is truly a Mixed Breed but she has a lot of traits of the retriever/lab group. The vet saw some golden retriever in her fur, she has the voice of a hound, her legs have spots like the heelers but that also could be a result of the mange. Her personality is cautious but wants to interact with people. She plays with other dogs like a young puppy.
